Student use and possession of

Cell Phones, iPods, and other electronic devices in school

Due to many misuses and abuse of cell phones, iPods, gaming machines, and other electronic devices not issued by the school, the school has decided to ask parents to tell their children to leave these electronic devices home at home.  We have experienced students using cell phones texting parents, friends and other students while classes are in session.

For some students there may be a legitimate need for a student to have such a device at school for after school use.  With this in mind the school is setting the following parameters for possession, storage and use.

1. No student shall have in his/her possession; on their person, including clothing, purses, backpacks, etc... any cell phone, i-pod, MP3 player, USB Drive,  gaming device or other electronic device not issued by the school between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

2.  Any of the above described items, if brought to school, must remain in the students individual locker.

3.  Penalty for the first violation is confiscation of the device for three (3) school days starting with the first day after confiscation.

4.  Penalty for the second violation is confiscation of the device for (5) school days starting with the first day after confiscation.

5.  Penalty for the third violation is confiscation for the balance of the school year.

Other penalties for violation of school rules may also apply.

These new guidelines are effective March 5th, 2007.
