WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MATH?

1st Period - Geometry

This course consists of the study of points, lines, angles, two column proofs, congruent triangles, and similar polygons. 
Prerequisite:  Algebra I or Algebra 2     

2nd & 3rd Period - Algebra I

This course consists of the study of algebraic symbols, formulas, properties of real numbers and their uses, solving equations and inequalities, word problems, polynomials, and factoring and graphing. 

5th Period - Pre Calculus

This course presents the topics from Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, and Analytic Geometry needed to provide the student with solid preparation for the study of Calculus.  Formal study of functions, graphs, and limits is particularly important in this course.  The student selecting this course in eleventh grade is expected to continue into Calculus in twelfth grade.

Prerequisite:  Algebra II, Geometry, and recommendation of the instructor

6th & 7th Period - Algebra II

This course focuses on the study of the real number system, equations, inequalities, graphs and functions, polynomials and factoring, rational expressions, and irrational and complex numbers.  Also included:  the study of quadratic equations and functions, equations and numerical methods, analytic geometry, exponential and logarithmic functions, sequences and series, matrices and determinants, and probability and statistics.

Prerequisite:  Algebra I or Consent of instructor
